The IET recommends that electrical installations are periodically tested & inspected to ensure safe continued operation. Guidance states that Domestic properties should be tested on change of ownership, use & no greater than every 10 years. This form of inspection os known as an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR). This report would identify if the property requires upgrading or even rewiring & should form the start point of any purchase, modernisation or building project.
